I'm Going Through, Jesus

Author: Herbert Buffum, 1879-1939 Hymnal: Total Praise #398 (2011) First Line: Lord, I have started to walk in the light Refrain First Line: I'm going through, yes, I'm going through Lyrics: 1 Lord, I have started to walk in the light, Shining upon me from heaven so bright; I bade the world and its follies adieu, I’ve started in Jesus, and I’m going through. Refrain: I’m going through, yes, I’m going through; I’ll pay the price, whatever others do; I’ll take the way with the Lord’s despised few, I’m going through, Jesus, I’m going through. 2 Many they are who start in the race; But with the light they refuse to keep pace; Others accept it because it is new, But not very many expect to go through. [Refrain] 3 I’d rather walk with Jesus alone, And have for a pillow, like Jacob, a stone, Living each moment with His face in view, Than shrink from my pathway and fail to go through. [Refrain] 4 O brother, now will you take up the cross? Give up the world, and count it as dross; Sell all thou hast, and give to the poor, Then go through with Jesus and those who endure. [Refrain] Topics: Commitment and Submission; Discipleship; Faithfulness of the Believer; Light Scripture: Luke 9:23 Languages: English Tune Title: [Lord, I have started to walk in the light]

I'm Going Through

Author: H. B. Hymnal: New Songs of Pentecost No. 2 #29 (1917) First Line: O Lord, I have started to walk in the light Refrain First Line: I'm going thro', Jesus, I'm going thro' Lyrics: 1 O Lord, I have started to walk in the light, That shines on my pathway so clearly and so bright, I’ve bade all the world and its follies adieu; And now with my Saviour I mean to go thro’. Refrain: I’m going thro’, Jesus, I’m going thro’, I’ll pay the price, whatever others do; I’ll take the way with the Lords despised few, I’ve started in Jesus, I’m going thro’. 2 How many once started to run in this race, But with our dear Saviour they could not keep the pace; While others accepted because it was new; But not very many seem’d bound to go thro’. [Refrain] 3 I’d far rather follow my Saviour alone, And have for my pillow, like Israel, a stone, Than gain all the world and its pleasures pursue; Than turn from the pathway and fail to go thro’. [Refrain] 4 O come then, my brother, and start in this way, This world and its follies will surely never pay; Then turn from your idols and join with the few, Let’s start in with Jesus and those going thro’. [Refrain] Languages: English Tune Title: [O Lord, I have started to walk in the light]

Anonymous

Person Name: Unknown Author of "I'm Going Through, Jesus" in The New National Baptist Hymnal (21st Century Edition) In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.
