If It Be His Will

Author: Victor M. Hatfield Appears in 4 hymnals First Line: If it be His will, I shall be satisfied Lyrics: 1 If it be His will, I shall be satisfied, Even tho' my fondest wishes be denied; I will wait in patience, trust His promises still; I will learn to say, "It is my Master's will." Chorus: If it be His will, I will wait in patience, I will trust His promise still; Tho' my cup of sorrow to the brim He fill, I will sweetly say, "It is my Master's will." 2 If it be His will, I'll bid farewell to ease, Give my time and talent dear Lord to please, Knowing all His promises He will fulfil: Use me, blessed Master, if it is Thy will. [Chorus] 3 If it be His will, I'll spread the news abroad, How my sins are pardoned thro' the Lamb of God; How His precious blood atones for ev'ry ill: Lord, I'll speak Thy message, if it is Thy will. [Chorus] Used With Tune: [If it be His will, I shall be satisfied]

Chas. H. Gabriel

1856 - 1932 Person Name: Charles Hutchinson Gabriel Composer of "[If it be His will, I shall be satisfied]" Pseudonyms: C. D. Emerson, Charlotte G. Homer, S. B. Jackson, A. W. Lawrence, Jennie Ree ============= For the first seventeen years of his life Charles Hutchinson Gabriel (b. Wilton, IA, 1856; d. At the age of sixteen he began teaching singing in schools (following in his father's footsteps) and soon was acclaimed as a fine teacher and composer. He moved to California in 1887 and served as Sunday school music director at the Grace Methodist Church in San Francisco. After moving to Chicago in 1892, Gabriel edited numerous collections of anthems, cantatas, and a large number of songbooks for the Homer Rodeheaver, Hope, and E. O. Excell publishing companies. He composed hundreds of tunes and texts, at times using pseudonyms such as Charlotte G. Homer. The total number of his compositions is estimated at about seven thousand. Gabriel's gospel songs became widely circulated through the Billy Sunday-Homer Rodeheaver urban crusades. Bert Polman
