1867 - 1943 Composer of "[You have only one mother]" in Bright Beautiful Bells Born: Circa 1867, Pennsylvania. Died: May 4, 1943, Cleveland, Ohio. Ira’s father was song writer Elisha Hoffman. His middle name was his mother’s maiden name. At age nine, he is said to have written the music for his father’s song "The Little Pilgrim;" as an adult, he was a composer, arranger, and music editor.
