Instrumental and vocal composer; took up music as a profession after having first been compelled to study law, became organist at Trinity Church, Copenhagen, in 1838, professor of vocal music at the Metropolitan School in 1843, and inspector of the same branch in all public institutions. 1881 - 1948 Author of "Come, Children And Sing To Our Father " in Hymnal for Church and Home Paul Christian Paulsen was born on March 26, 1881, in Alstrup, Jutland, Denmark. He emigrated to America in 1904, was ordained in 1911, and served as a Lutheran pastor in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, California, and Alberta, Canada. He died on July 26, 1948. NN, Hymnary

1826 - 1910 Person Name: V. Koren Author of "Ye Lands, To The Lord" in Hymnal for Church and Home Born: December 22, 1826, Bergen, Norway. Died: December 19, 1910, Decorah, Iowa. Buried: Washington Prairie Lutheran Church, Decorah, Iowa. Koren has been called the "patriarch of Norwegian-American Lutherans." He graduated from the University of Christiana in 1852; helped found Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, and Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota; and received a doctorate of divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, in 1903. He served as pastor of the Washington Prairie congregation in Iowa, and president of the Norwegian Synod (1894-1910).
