as prophet, priest, and king;
with feet like bronze, with robes of gold,
his voice a mighty torrent bold,
his eyes aflame, his age untold,
in glory shimmering.
2 To John he spoke on Patmos isle,
"Write now of what shall be;
don't be afraid, for there is none
before me, or when all is done,
I hold the keys, the stars, the sun;
stand up and you shall see."

4 To seven churches thus he spoke,
and called on each to hear.
Our fears and failures he'll expose;
our opportunities he knows;
his grace and mercy overflows,
his victory is near.

His are the words of one on high
who holds the stars in space;
who calls his faithful to endure
and, by repentance, to secure
the food of life, serene and pure,
within God's holy place.
b) Smyrna:
His are the words of one on high
the first and last who lives,
who offers hope instead of fear,

his glorious presence ever near,

Michael Saward
1932 - 2015 Author of "The Son of Man Has Been Revealed" in Singing the New Testament Michael John Saward (b. Blackheath, Kent, England, 1932) was residentiary Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral, London, and a church commissioner and member of the general synod of the Church of England. Educated at Eltham College, Bristol University, and Tyndale Hall, he was ordained in the Church of England in 1956. Saward served in several congregations and was radio and television officer for the Church Information Office (1967-1972). His publications include Leisure (1963), Couldn’t Care Less (1966), Don't Miss the Party (1974), and All Change (1983). Associated with the Jubilate Group for a number of years, he has written some sixty hymns and served as text editor for Hymns for Today's Church (1982).

b. 1925 Person Name: Paul Wigmore, 1925- Paraphraser of "Lord, who may dwell within your house" in The Book of Praise Born 1925, London. Schools in Harrow, Bushey Heath and Barnstaple (N Devon). Many occupations between the ages of 14 and 42: apprentice mechanical engineer, shop assistant, junior clerk, photo lab trainee, National Service RAF photographer in India, Burma and UK, Kodak medical radiographer and haematology lab technician, then technical author. Publications and PR manager with air/sea lifesaving equipment manufacturer. PRO for the Christian Medical College and Brown Memorial Hospital, Ludhiana, Punjab. Freelance writer, graphic designer and photographer in Cambridge. Advertising editor and art director with Kodak UK from 1967 to early retirement in 1985.
Wrote first verse at age ten in Port Isaac, Cornwall, getting as far as:
Clouds race like tattered rags
across Port Isaac Bay,
... and then stopping. During brief acquaintance with Penelope and John Betjeman from August 1982 until John's death in July, 1984, encouraged by the poet to keep writing verse. Two collections of light verse published in 1988 and 1990. First attempt at a hymn text written ('ÄòMay we, O Holy Spirit, bear your fruit'Äô) at the request of Jubilate Hymns Limited in compilation of Hymns for Today's Church.
Something approaching 100 hymn texts now published, plus a couple of cantatas and one opera.
