This happy Easter morning brings,
To doubting minds a glad release;
New faith in every heart upsprings.
A solemn joy pervades the day;
Bright hope is kindled in each breast:
Pain, grief and fear are cast away,
The soul in Jesus, is at rest.
2 O wondrous time so thrilled with life!
With life, not merely for a day,
But, victor over earthly strife,
A life eternal, sure, alway.
O promise blest! O message sweet!
Of life and love and happiness;
Eternity shall make complete,
What now in vision we possess.
3 O Christians all, with one accord,
Lift up your souls this Easter morn
And, in the rising of your Lord,
Strive ye that better lives be born.
O children dear, your praises bring:
Make glad the day with songs of joy;
And may the service of the King
Be evermore your hearts’ employ. Used With Tune: PLAYA DEL CARMEN Text Sources: Praise and Thanks, by G. F. White (Boston, Massachusetts: Universalist Publishing House, 1895)
