Author: E. O. E. Hymnal: The New Praiseworthy #248 (1916) First Line: In vain I've tried a thousand ways Lyrics: 1 In vain I've tried a thousand ways My fears to quell, my hope to raise, But what I need thro' all my days Is Jesus, is Jesus. 2 My soul is night, my heart is steel, I cannot see, I cannot feel; For light, for life, I must appeal To Jesus, to Jesus. 3 He died for me, He lives, He pleads, There's love in all His words and deeds; There's all a guilty sinner needs In Jesus, in Jesus. 4 Tho' some will scorn, and some will blame, I'll go with all my guilt and shame, I'll go to Him because His name Is Jesus, is Jesus.
