Where Will You Spend Eternity?

Author: M. H. M. Hymnal: The Old Story in Song #59 (1906) First Line: Where will you spend eternity Refrain First Line: Where will you spend eternity Lyrics: 1 Where will you spend eternity? This question comes home to all, The old, the young, the rich, the poor, Must answer the solemn call. Refrain: Where will you spend eternity? Do not the answer delay; Shall all be darkness or marvelous light? Settle this question to-day. 2 Where will you spend eternity? Life’s pleasures will soon be o’er; Their songs and mirth will pass away, And leave you forevermore. [Refrain] 3 Where will you spend eternity? Shall all with your soul be well? Say, will you enter Gates of Pearl, Or ever in darkness dwell? [Refrain] 4 Where will you spend eternity? The angels now bend to hear; O choose to-day a place of rest, With Jesus, your Friend so dear. [Refrain] 5 Where will you spend eternity? The dear ones, who’ve gone before, With longing eyes your coming wait, O meet them on yonder shore. [Refrain] Tune Title: [Where will you spend eternity]

Mary Hubbert Munford

Person Name: M. H. M. Author of "Where Will You Spend Eternity?" in The Old Story in Song Mary Hubbert Mumford Ellis married to Joseph Cannon Ellis, both ordained minsters, take turns in preaching to their congregation at the Munford Primitive Methodist Church (in Philadelphia) They give their services without pay. Dr. Ellis, who is a practicing surgeon, conducts regular meetings in the church. His wife bears the title of assistant pastor. "I do not believe in a pastor accepting money for his church work" says Mrs. Ellis. "He–or she–should have other employment during the week and earn enough in that way to obviate such a necessity. We don't make any rule about who is to preach on a certain day. It depends on which of us the congregation seems to need most at a certain time." During the fifteen years of their married life, Dr. Ellis and his wife have conducted evangelical services in many sections of the county. The Washington Post Sunday, September 11, 1927, p. 35
