He Will Meet Me at the Portal

Author: Irvin H. Mack Hymnal: Sunday-School Praises #114 (1900) First Line: When the cares of life have ended Lyrics: 1 When the cares of life have ended And I cross the silent stream; As I reach the heav’nly portal And its glories on me beam; I shall hear the song of welcome, As I sweep within the wall, I shall see the Savior coming, And shall know his loving call. Refrain: He will meet me at the portal, He will lead me by the hand, Bid me welcome to his mansions, In that bright and happy land. 2 I shall know my blessed Savior When he comes to greet me there, When he takes me to him gently, Bids me all those blessings share. I shall hear his voice so tender And his kindly face shall see, I shall rest upon his bosom, Praise him through eternity. [Refrain] 3 O the joy of that glad meeting, Precious thought! it thrills me now, I shall hear him bid me welcome Feel his kiss upon my brow. There I’ll sing the songs of Zion, There with saints communion hold, There I’ll shout glad hallelujahs, Safe within the heav’nly fold. [Refrain] Languages: English Tune Title: [When the cares of life have ended]
