Volunteers are Wanted

Author: E. A. H. Hymnal: Triumphant Songs No.2 #239 (1889) First Line: Volunteers are wanted for the army of the Lord Refrain First Line: Hark! the clarion call is sounding Lyrics: 1 Volunteers are wanted for the army of the Lord, Soldiers who will keep the field and wield a faithful sword, Men who will not recreant be, nor from the foeman run, Such as can be counted on till the victory is won. Refrain: Hark! the clarion call is sounding! Loud and long the bugles blow! Who will volunteer for Jesus, And with him to battle go? 2 Volunteers are wanted for the army of the Lord, Men whose courage will not fail at sight of flame or sword, Men who fear not cannon peal, nor shrink from shot and shell, Such as can be counted on to do their duty well. [Refrain] 3 Volunteers are wanted for the army of the Lord, Men whose hearts will cling in faith to God’s unfailing Word, Men whose hands will wield the blade the earnest struggle through, Such as can be counted on to faithful be and true. [Refrain] Tune Title: [Volunteers are wanted for the army of the Lord]
