1852 - 1926 Author of "Savior, to Thee I Pray" James Summerfield Bitler was born on March 28, 1852 in Lancaster, Ohio. He graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University. He was a well-known evangelist and served as pastor at various Methodist Episcopal churches in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Nebraska. He died on February 4, 1926 in Columbus, Ohio.
