The Joy of Knowing

Author: Theodora A. Thomson Hymnal: Songs of Help #108 (1917) First Line: Oh, the joy of knowing Jesus is my Friend Refrain First Line: Oh, the joy of knowing Lyrics: 1 Oh, the joy of knowing Jesus is my Friend, In the stress of life my soul He will defend; From the pleasures of the world my heart is free, Since the blessed Saviour came and walks with me. Refrain: Oh, the joy of knowing,—knowing ev’ry day, That my Saviour walks with me along the way; In the stress of life my soul He will defend, Oh, the joy of knowing such a precious Friend! 2 Oh, the joy of trusting in the Saviour’s love, Which, like cooling showers, cometh from above, Till in all His glory He shall come again, With His faithful servants ever to remain. [Refrain] 3 Oh, the joy of knowing He is ever near, Quick to give us courage when we pause in fear; Shining in the darkness, that we may not stray From the blessed safety of the narrow way. [Refrain] 4 Oh, the joy of keeping faith with such a Friend, Who from satan’s bondage ever will defend, And from out the records will my sins efface, Pleading with His lifeblood at the throne of grace. [Refrain] Tune Title: [Oh, the joy of knowing Jesus is my Friend]
