The fires that in the east are born
With gradual splendors of the morn;
2. Who, on the fourth day, didst reveal

3. That each in its appointed way
Might separate night from day,

Author of "Most Holy Lord and God of Heaven" in The Cyber Hymnal In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1862 - 1947 Person Name: M. F. B. Translator of "Most holy Lord and God of heaven" in The English Hymnal Bell, Maurice Frederick, M.A., son of G. W. Bell, barrister at law, was born in London, Sept. 3, 1862. He graduated from Hertford Coll., Oxford (B.A. 1884, M.A. 1887), was ordained D. 1885, P. 1886, and has been since 1904 Vicar of St. Mark, Regent's Park, London. He contributed to The English Hymnal, 1906, four translations (60, 68, 624, 634), and "O dearest Lord, by all adored" (Close of Festival), 1906. [Rev. James Mearns, M.A.]

Bishop, c. 1665-1737 Composer of "ILLSLEY" in The English Hymnal John Bishop was born in 1665 in Winchester, Hampshire, England He served as lay vicar at King’s College, Cambridge (1687), as the organist (1695-1737) and lay clerk (1697) at Winchester College, and also as tge organist at Winchester Cathedral (1729-37). He died about December 19, 1737 in Winchester. His works include:
