God's Care

Author: Ida M. Budd Appears in 6 hymnals First Line: I see you, little blossoms Refrain First Line: Oh, trust, trust in God Lyrics: 1 I see you, little blossoms, So modest, pure and sweet, Now hiding 'mong the grasses green That tremble at my feet; I seem to read on your petals, That glisten in the dew, "God cares for me, O little one, and He will care for you." Chorus: Oh, trust, trust in God, Trust Him all the day long thro', For He who cares for the birds and flow'rs, Will surely care for you. 2 I hear you, little robins, Out in the maple tree, Singing your happy song of spring, As blithe as blithe can be; I seem to hear in your glad notes, That ring so clear and sweet, "God cares for all the great round world, And O He cares for thee." [Chorus] 3 O happy little robin, And blossom, nestling low, I learn of you the lesson sweet, That God would have me know, That, tho' the day may be sunny, Or dark the clouds may be, The Lord who cares for the birds and flow'rs Will surely care for me. [Chorus] Used With Tune: [I see you, little blossoms]

1856 - 1932 Person Name: C. H. G Composer of "[I see you, little blossoms]" in Little Branches No. 2 Pseudonyms: C. D. Emerson, Charlotte G. Homer, S. B. Jackson, A. W. Lawrence, Jennie Ree ============= For the first seventeen years of his life Charles Hutchinson Gabriel (b. Wilton, IA, 1856; d. Los Angeles, CA, 1932) lived on an Iowa farm, where friends and neighbors often gathered to sing. Gabriel accompanied them on the family reed organ he had taught himself to play. At the age of sixteen he began teaching singing in schools (following in his father's footsteps) and soon was acclaimed as a fine teacher and composer. He moved to California in 1887 and served as Sunday school music director at the Grace Methodist Church in San Francisco. After moving to Chicago in 1892, Gabriel edited numerous collections of anthems, cantatas, and a large number of songbooks for the Homer Rodeheaver, Hope, and E. O. Excell publishing companies. He composed hundreds of tunes and texts, at times using pseudonyms such as Charlotte G. Homer. The total number of his compositions is estimated at about seven thousand. Gabriel's gospel songs became widely circulated through the Billy Sunday-Homer Rodeheaver urban crusades. Bert Polman
