B. D. Ackley

1872 - 1958 Arranger of "[When He calls me, I will answer]" in The King's Songs Bentley DeForrest Ackley was born 27 September 1872 in Spring Hill, Pennsylvania. He was the oldest son of Stanley Frank Ackley and the brother of A. H. Ackley. In his early years, he traveled with his father and his father's band. He learned to play several musical instruments. By the age of 16, after the family had moved to New York, he began to play the organ for churches. He married Bessie Hill Morley on 20 December 1893. In 1907 he joined the Billy Sunday and Homer Rodeheaver evangelist team as secretary/pianist. He worked for and traveled with the Billy Sunday organization for 8 years. He also worked as an editor for the Homer Rodeheaver publishing company. He composed more than 3000 tunes. He died 3 September 1958 in Winona Hills, Indiana at the age of 85 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, Indiana, near his friend Homer Rodeheaver. 1905 - 1977 Arranger of "[When He calls me, I will answer]" in Select Radio Songs Born: October 29, 1905, near Spiro, Oklahoma. Died: November 15, 1977, Springfield, Missouri. Buried: Fox Cemetery, Powell, Missouri. Brumley attended the Hartford Musical Institute in Hartford, Arkansas, and sang with the Hartford Quartet. He went on to teach at singing schools in the Ozarks, and lived most of his life in Powell, Missouri. He worked for 34 years a staff writer for the Hartford and Stamps/Baxter publishing companies, then founded the Albert E. Brumley & Sons Music Company and Country Gentlemen Music, and bought the Hartford Music Company. 1886 - 1968 Person Name: E. L. J. Arranger of "[When He calls me I will answer]" in Church Gospel Songs and Hymns Born: December 9, 1886, Nebraska. Died: December 14, 1968, at his home in Louisville, Kentucky. Buried: Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky. Jorgenson was the son of Danish immigrants. His father, Christopher Jorgenson, had been a soldier in the personal guard of the king of Denmark (probably Christian IX), and his mother a seamstress to the queen. The 1900 census shows the family living in Boone County, Nebraska. As a young man, Elmer led singing in churches in and around Albion, Nebraska, and in nearby Missouri. He was directing the music department at Western Bible and Literary College by 1908. In 1910, he and his wife Irene moved to Louisville, Kentucky. He was a member of the Churches of Christ.
