My Saviour's call I hear

Author: Bertha Fennell Appears in 1 hymnal Lyrics: 1 My Saviour’s call I hear, “Stand forth, that I may bless; Thy withered hand, thy lack of power, Thy ever need confess.” 2 Confessing all my need, Before Thee now I stand, And hear Thy Voice ring strong and clear, “Stretch forth thy withered hand.” 3 By faith I bring Thee now, My lack of power and skill, My withered hopes, my fruitless work, My weak and wayward will. 4 Thy cleansing Blood now flows O’er all the dreary past, Abundantly Thy life is mine, Eternally to last. 5 Engrafted in the Vine, Abiding, Lord, in Thee, Thy power, Thy strength, Thy fruitfulness, I now believe to see.

Eye hath not seen Thy Glory

Author: E. W. Eddis Appears in 2 hymnals First Line: Eye hath not seen Thy glory: Thou alone Lyrics: 1 Eye hath not seen Thy glory: Thou alone The path of light hast trod; And in Thy kingdom, on the Father’s throne Thou reignest, Son of God. 2 Yet Thou abidest with us, King of kings: Thy loveliness we see; And through the hallowed veil of earthly things Hold communing with Thee. 3 Thou livest in us: from the tomb of earth To heaven with Thee we rise, And, through the portal of our second birth, Behold the eternal prize. 4 The door in heaven is opened: Jesus, Lord, The Crown is on Thy brow; Amid the immortal hosts of light adored In glory dwellest Thou. She Hath Done What She Could

Author: Eva J. Evered Poole Appears in 2 hymnals First Line: I could not do the work the reapers did Lyrics: 1 I could not do the work the reapers did, Or bind the golden sheaves that thickly fell; But I could follow by the Master’s side, Watching the marred face I loved so well. Right in my path lay many a ripen’d ear Which I would stoop and gather joyfully,— I did not know the Master placed them there— “Handfuls of purpose” that He left for me. 2 I could not cast the heavy fisher-net, I had not strength or wisdom for the task; So on the sunlit sands, with spray-drops wet, I sat, while earnest pray’rs rose thick and fast. I pleaded for the Master’s blessing, where My brethren toil’d upon the world-wide sea; Or ever that I knew His smile so fair Shone, beaming sweet encouragement on me. 3 I could not join the glorious soldier-band, I never heard their thrilling battle-cry; The work allotted by the Master’s hand Kept me at home, while others went to die. And yet, when victory crowned the struggle long, And spoils were homeward brought, both rich and rare, He let me help to chant the triumph-song, And bade me in the gold an jewels share. 4 O Master dear! the tiniest work for Thee Finds recompense beyond our highest thought, And feeble hands that worked but tremblingly The richest colours in Thy fabric wrought. We are content to take what Thou shalt give, To do, or suffer, as Thy choice shall be: Forsaking all Thy wisdom bids us leave, Glad in the thought that we are pleasing Thee! Used With Tune: BROTHERTOFT

Lord, the night is darkening

Author: S. Trevor Francis Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: Lord, the night is dark'ning Lyrics: 1 Lord, the night is dark’ning Shadows close around; Darkness growing deeper, Sins and woes abound. Oh, be Thou our Leader, Guide us on our way, We would follow trusting, Ev’ry passing day. 2 We would blend our voices As the past we view, Thou art ever faithful, Thou art ever true; And for all Thy mercies We our voices raise, Singing to Thy glory Notes of sweetest praise. 3 Oh, to grow in likeness, Blessed Lord, to Thee! Hearts of love and pity, Full of sympathy; Ears awake to listen When Thou speakest, Lord; Feet to run obedient To Thy gracious Word. 4 Make us ever willing For Thy ministry, Suffering or service, As it pleaseth Thee; Keep, oh keep us watching For Thy blest return, Oil within our vessels, Lamps that brightly burn. 5 Ready with the message To the sin-sick soul, How the Good Physician Makes the sinner whole; Till at last life’s journey And its conflicts o’er, We shall in Thy presence Dwell for evermore. Used With Tune: ST. AIDEN

Ye are come unto Mount Zion

Author: M. W. Stubbs Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: Now return with singing Lyrics: 1 Now return with singing, Ransom’d of the Lord; In the heights of Zion Sing with one accord. Past the night of weeping, Morning joy is theirs! Passing thro’ the springs o’erflow In this vale of tears. 2 Ye are come to Zion, To the heav’nly seat; Everlasting joy shall crown Life “in God” complete: Thro’ the Blood of sprinkling, By a living Way; Last and least, in our High-Priest, Ent’ring in to stay! 3 Entering in for ever, To go “no more out”; To the song and banquet, And the victor’s shout: Entering in as sinners, “Far off;” now “brought nigh”; We are come to God our Home, On His heart to lie. 4 We are “no more worthy,” Bankrupts to Thy grace; Ours the robe, the shoes, the ring, Ours to see Thy face; Ours the feast of gladness, Merriment divine; Laud and praise be Thine alway, And the glory Thine! Used With Tune: RANSOMED
