We All Are One in Mission

Author: Rusty Edwards, 1955- Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Appears in 14 hymnals Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:5-7 Lyrics: 1 We all are one in mission, we all are one in call, our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all. A single, great commission compels us from above to plan and work together that all may know Christ's love. 2 We all are called for service to witness in God's name. Our ministries are different, our purpose is the same: to touch the lives others by God's surprising grace, so ev'ry folk and nation may feel God's warm embrace. 3 We all behold one vision, a stark reality: the author of salvation was nailed upon a tree. Yet resurrected Justice gives rise that we may share free reconciliation and hope amid despair. 4 Now let us be united and let our song be heard. Now let us be a vessel for God's redeeming Word. We all are one in mission, we all are one in call, our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all. Used With Tune: AURELIA

I Look Not Back

Author: Annie Johnson Flint, 1866-1932 Meter: 11.10.11.10 Appears in 11 hymnals Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:6 First Line: I look not back; God knows the fruitless efforts Lyrics: 1 I look not back; God knows the fruitless efforts, the wasted hours, the sin, the deep regrets. I leave them all with him who blots the record, and graciously forgives, and then forgets. 2 I look not forward; God sees all the future, the road that, short or long, will lead me home, and he will face with me its ev'ry trial, and bear for me the burdens that may come. 3 I look not round me; then would fears assail me, so wild the waves of earth's unruly seas, so dark the world, so filled with woe and evil, so vain the hope of comfort and of ease. 4 I look not inward; that would make me wretched, for I have naught on which to stay my trust. I only see my failures and offenses, and weak endeavors, crumbling into dust. 5 But I look up into the face of Jesus, for there my heart can rest, my fears are stilled; and there is joy, and love, and light for darkness, and perfect peace, and ev'ry hope fulfilled. Topics: Trust Used With Tune: AUFSEHEN

Lyrics: 1 There is sunlight on the hilltop, There is sunlight on the sea; And the golden beams are sleeping On the soft and verdant lea; But a richer light is filling All the chambers of my heart; For Thou dwellest there, my Savior And ’tis sunlight where Thou art. Refrain: Oh, the sunlight! beautiful sunlight! Oh, the sunlight in the heart! Jesus’ smile can banish sadness; It is sunlight in the heart. 2 In the dust I leave my sadness, As the garb of other days, For Thou robest me with gladness, And Thou fillest me with praise; And to that bright home of glory Which Thy love hath won for me, In my heart and mind ascending, My glad spirit follows Thee. [Refrain] 3 Loving Savior, Thou hast bought me, And my life, my all, is Thine; Let the lamp Thy love hath lighted To Thy praise and glory shine; And to that bright home of glory Which Thy love hath won for me, In my heart and mind ascending, My glad spirit follows Thee. Knowlton Appears in 9 hymnals Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:9 First Line: I cannot tell if short or long Lyrics: 1 I cannot tell if short or long My earthly journey be; But, all the way, I know thy rod And staff will comfort me. 2 Though fierce temptations lie in wait, What need have I to care? Thou wilt not suffer them to hurt Beyond my strength to bear. 3 What storms may beat, what burdens fall, My soul would not avoid; Who follows thee, O Lord, may be Cast down, but not destroyed. 4 Though over steep and rugged ways My weary feet be brought, Still following where thy footprints lead, I take no anxious thought. 5 Oh, perfect peace! oh, endless rest!
