PXXV. To Thee, O LORD, I lift my soul

1 To Thee, O LORD, I lift my soul:
2 My God I trust in Thee:
Let me not be asham'd; nor let
my foes joy over me.
3 Yea, let not any be asham'd,
who hope and wait on Thee:
But all who are unjust and vain,
let them ashamed be.

4 Thy ways, JEHOVAH, to me show,
thy paths make me discern;
5 O make me in thy truth to go,
and cause Thou me to learn.
For of my health Thou art the God,
on Thee I wait all day:
6 Thy bowels, LORD, and mercies mind;
for, evermore are they.

7 Remember not my faults of youth,
nor later sins record:
In mercy, for thy goodness sake
remember me, O LORD.
8 The LORD is good and just; therefore
the way He'll sinners show:
9 The meek He will in judgment guide,
and make his way to know.

10 JEHOVAH's paths all mercy are,
and truth all of them too,
To them that keep his covenant
and testimonies do.
11 JEHOVAH, for thy own name sake,
I humbly Thee intreat
To pardon mine iniquity,
for it is very great.

[2 Part]

12 Who fear the LORD, them He will teach
the way that they should chuse;
13 Their souls shall dwell at ease; their seed
as heirs the earth shall use.
14 With them who humbly fear the LORD,
his secret love doth dwell;
And his most gracious covenant
to him He will reveal.

15 Mine earnest eyes continually
rais'd to JEHOVAH are;
For He it is that can set free
my feet out of the snare.
16 O turn Thou unto me thy face,
and on me mercy show;
For I am in a lonely case,
afflicted, poor, and low.

17 The troubles of my heart are great;
bring me from my distress,
18 My pain and mine affliction see,
and all my sins release.
19 Consider Thou mine enemies;
for multiply'd they are,
And it a cruel hatred is
which they against me bear.

20 O do Thou safely keep my soul,
do Thou deliver me;
And let me never be asham'd,
because I trust in Thee.
21 Let soundness and let uprightness
keep me who wait on Thee:
22 From all his troubles Israel
O GOD, do thou set free.
