Place the turf kindly o'er (her his) breast;
Sweet be the slumber 'neath the sod,
While the pure soul is resting with God.

Gracefully wave, ye willow boughs;
Flow'rs of the wildwood odors shed
Over the holy, beautiful dead. [Refrain]

3 Quietly sleep, beloved one,
Rest from thy toil, thy labor's done;
Rest till the trump from th' op'ning skies
Bids thee from dust to glory arise! [Refrain]
