Zot Shpërblyes Udhëheqmë

Representative Text

1 Zot shpërblyes udhëheqmë
Pelegrin në vend të shkretë.
Jam i dobët por më mban me
Dorën tënde t’fort’ ti vet.
Bukë qielli, bukë qielli;
Më ushqe dhe mua më ngop.

2 Hap burimin e kristaltë
Ku përroi shërues rrjedh.
T’më udh’heq’ kolona e reve
Dhe e zjarrit kudo që bredh
O çlironjës, o çlironjës,
Më forco dhe mua më mbro.

3 Dhe kur bregun e Jordanit
Do ta shkel, çdo frikë largo.
Nëpër ujëra vërshuese
Gjer në Kanaan mua më ço.
Këng’ lavd’ruese, këng’ lavd’ruese
Do t’këndoj për ty gjithmonë.

4 Na merr malli të të shohim
Dhe t’banojm’ tek ti në qiell
Ku do t’gjejm’ në bashkësi të
Ëmbël një dashuri të thell’
Ne që t’presim, ne që t’presim,
Eja merrna për në sht’pi.

For half a century he travelled in Wales, preaching the Gospel. He died in 1791. Williams composed his hymns chiefly in the Welsh language; they are still largely used by various religious bodies in the principality. Many of his hymns have appeared in English, and have been collected and published by Sedgwick. His two principal poetical works are "Hosannah to the Son of David," and "Gloria in Excelsis." --Annotati… Go to person page >

CWM RHONDDA

The popularity of Williams's text ("Guide me, O thou great Jehovah") is undoubtedly aided by its association with CWM RHONDDA, composed in 1905 by John Hughes (b. Dowlais, Glamorganshire, Wales, 1873; d. Llantwit Fardre, Wales, 1932) during a church service for a Baptist Cymanfa Ganu (song festival)…
