Born: May 9, 1841, Chenango County, New York. Died: December 3, 1920, Berkeley, California. John was the son of Stephen Yates Hammond (1809-1892) and Martha Adams Hammond (1809-1863), and husband of Sarah Elizabeth Powers Hammond (1843-1918).
