Representative Text

1 The Lord is faithful to his precious word,
That, a contrite soul, at the cross I heard;
And that often since, in a trying hour,
Brought me comfort, peace, and his conq’ring pow’r.

Refrain:
The Lord is faithful, bless his name,
The Lord is faithful, bless his name!
“Every word of God is pure,”
All his promises are sure,
The Lord is faithful, bless his name!

2 The Lord is faithful while the years roll by,
And his stars revolve in the midnight sky,
While the kindling hills catch the morning glow,
And the vernal flow’rs follow winter’s snow. [Refrain]

3 The Lord is faithful; I will trust him still,
For his changeless love works through good and ill,
And his grace, e’en more than in bygone days,
Shall forevermore fill my heart with praise. [Refrain]

4 The Lord is faithful; may his image be,
By his Spirit’s might, fully formed in me;
Then a crown of life, when he guides my feet
Through the pearly gates to the golden street. [Refrain]
