Representative Text

1 My soul was darkened in the night of sin,
I would not let God’s precious love-light in,
My Savior sought me and my heart did win,
And Jesus now smiles on me.

Refrain:
When Jesus smiles the darkest day is bright,
When Jesus smiles my burdened heart is light,
When Jesus smiles I fear not day or night,
For Jesus ever smiles on me.

2 My path leads often into darkest ways,
My feet oft wander in a hopeless maze,
But still my song shall be a song of praise,
For Jesus now smiles on me. [Refrain]

3 When Death shall call me at his side to go
And leads me where the chilling waters flow,
E’en there my heart the richest joy shall know,
For Jesus will smile on me. [Refrain]
