Representative Text

1 Just beyond the River Jordan there’s a land so bright and fair,
Where the wicked cannot enter, for the Lord is master there;
Not a breath of woe or sorrow thro’ that golden city blows;
For there’s naught but joy and gladness where the Jordan flows.

Refrain:
Just beyond the Jordan River, in that land of sweet repose,
There is light and life forever, where the Jordan flows;
Just beyond the Jordan River, in that land of sweet repose,
There is light and life forever, where the Jordan flows.

2 I can see the lov’d ones waiting with the ransomed on the shore;
I can hear them sing the praises of the Lord forevermore;
Ev’ry face is bright and joyful, as the heav’nly sunlight glows;
And I know my place is waiting, where the Jordan flows. [Refrain]

3 Weary sinners, raise your voices, let your glad hosanna’s ring,
Turn your eyes, with love-light beaming, to the palace of the King,
Where He’s made us many mansions, far away from earthly foes,
In that land of life eternal, where the Jordan flows. [Refrain]
