Author: Eliza E. Hewitt
Tune: [Hark! there's a message from over the sea]
Published in 3 hymnals

Representative Text

1 Hark! there's a message from over the sea,
"Send us the light! wonderful light!"
Earnestly calling to you and to me,
"Send us the light of God!"

Chorus:
Send out the light!
Tell the sweet story so precious, so bright;
Send out the light,
Wonderful light of God.

2 O, let us willingly answer today;
"Send out the light! wonderful light!"
Each loving gift bears a beautiful ray;
Wonderful light of God! [Chorus]

3 Send them the Bible,'twill shine like a star;
Send out the light! wonderful light!
Chasing the dark, gloomy shadows afar,
Wonderful light of God! [Chorus]

4 Tell them of Jesus; his mercy will bring
Heavenly light, wonderful light!
Then in his glory together we'll sing,
Sing in the light of God. [Chorus]
