Representative Text

1 Brighter days are sweetly dawning,
O the glory looms in sight!
For the cloudy day is waning,
And the evening shall be light.

Refrain:
O what golden glory streaming!
Purer light is coming fast;
Now in Christ we’ve found a freedom
Which eternally shall last.

2 Misty fogs, so long concealing
All the hills of mingled night,
Vanish, all their sin revealing,
For the evening shall be light. [Refrain]

3 Satan, the accusing dragon,
Once assumed an angel bright,
But he’s driven out of Heaven,
By the blessèd evening light. [Refrain]

4 Lo! the ransomed are returning,
Robed in shining crystal white,
Leaping, shouting, home to Zion,
Happy in the evening light. [Refrain]

5 Free from Babel, in the Spirit,
Free to worship God aright;
Joy and gladness we’re receiving,
O how sweet this evening light! [Refrain]

6 Hallelujah! saints are singing,
Victory in Jehovah’s might;
Glory! glory! keep it ringing,
We are saved in evening light! [Refrain]
