Representative Text

1 Bowed beneath the load of your guilt and sin,
There’s a Friend whose love breathes a peace within;
By His pow’r the weak can the vict’ry win;
Jesus is the Friend you need.

Refrain:
Jesus is the Friend you need;
Jesus is a Friend indeed;
Take Him for your own; trust in Him alone,
For Jesus is the Friend you need.

2 As through life you go, through the light and shade,
He’s the Friend to help and to give you aid;
Happy is the heart on the Saviour stayed;
Jesus is the Friend you need. [Refrain]

3 When temptations sore shall your soul assail,
Over ev’ry ill shall His grace prevail;
Trust the precious Friend who will never fail;
Jesus is the Friend you need. [Refrain]

4 When around you close darkest clouds of night,
Trusting in His grace and His saving might,
This dear Friend will bring everlasting light,
Jesus is the Friend you need. [Refrain]
