Oscar Ahnfelt

1813 - 1882 Person Name: O. Ahnfelt Composer of "[O jag vet ett land långt från sorg och strid]" in De Ungas Sångbok Oscar Ahnfelt (1813 -1882) was a Swedish singer and composer. He wrote the music for many of Lina Sandell’s hymns. A pietist, he raised some concern in the State-church, but his music was apparently so popular, King Karl XV gave him permission to play and sing in both of his kingdoms. Ahnfelt’s music has spread throughout the world; two of his best-known songs are “Children of the Heavenly Father” and “Day by Day.” Laura de Jong

Person Name: Okänd Composer of "[O, jag vet ett land]" in Andeliga Sånger (3. upplagan) In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

Albert Johanson

Author of "I din ungdoms vår" in De Ungas Sångbok
