Author: Miss J. H. Johnston Appears in 8 hymnals First Line: Sometimes the sky is overcast Lyrics: 1 Sometimes the sky is overcast,
I fear to lose my way;
Until the storm be over-past,
O keep me safe, I pray.
In darkness, danger, and in doubt,
My heart is sore dismayed,
But "I will trust in Thee, O Lord,
What time I am afraid."
2 Accusing Conscience, like a flame,
Within my spirit burns,
The tempter speaks of wrath and shame,
My soul in anguish turns.
To Him whose blood atones for me,
On whom my heart is stayed,
For "I will trust in Thee O Lord,
What time I am afraid."
3 From all the unknown future days,
My timid heart recoils,
But known to God are all my ways,
And all my cares and toils.
The wisdom, pow'r, and might are Thine,
But mine the promised aid,
And "I will trust in Thee O Lord,
What time I am afraid."
4 When twilight shadows softly fall,
And night comes on apace,
In life and death, O Lord of all,
I would behold Thy face.
The final hour, Oh! let me meet
In peace, and undismayed,
For "I will trust in Thee O Lord,
What time I am afraid." Scripture: Psalm 56:3 Used With Tune: SCOTCH
