Bks. 1-4 In some hymnals, the editors noted that a hymn's author is unknown to them, and so this artificial "person" entry is used to reflect that fact. Obviously, the hymns attributed to "Author Unknown" "Unknown" or "Anonymous" could have been written by many people over a span of many centuries.

1912 - 1988 Composer of "[We are climbing Jacob's ladder]" in Men's Gospel Quartets new and old Roger Cole Wilson was long-associated with Ellen J. Lorenz Publishing, as was his father. Born in Dayton, he studied at the U. of Southern California at Los Angeles. He returned to Dayton, where he was born and raised, to join Lorenz Publishing. Wilson wrote cantatas, operettas, sacred and secular choral music, and especially for organ. He was editor of The Organist from 1940-1950. He also served as editor for The Volunteer Choir.
