Frank M. Davis
1839 - 1896 Composer of "[I am on my pilgrim journey]" in Crown of Gold Frank Marion Davis USA 1839-1896. Born at Marcellus, NY, he became a teacher and professor of voice, a choirmaster and a good singer. He traveled extensively, living in Marcellus, NY, Vicksburg, MS, Baltimore, MD, Cincinnati, OH, Burr Oak and Findley, MI. He compiled and published several song books: “New Pearls of Song” (1877), “Notes of Praise” (1890), “Crown of gold” (1892), “Always welcome” (1881), “Songs of love and praise #5” (1898), “Notes of praise”, and “Brightest glory”. He never married.

1833 - 1896 Person Name: W. G. Tomer Composer of "[I am on my pilgrim journey]" in Triumphant Songs No.3 Born: October 5, 1833, New Jersey.
Died: September 26, 1896, New Jersey.
Buried: Union Cemetery, Finesville, New Jersey.
Tomer studied singing and sang in the choir in Finesville, New Jersey, and began teaching school at age 17. He served in the Union army during the American civil war, then worked as a clerk in Washington, DC, served as music director for Grace Methodist Episcopal Church, and taught school in New Carpentersville and Greenwich, New Jersey. He was living in Greenwich as of 1880.
