A. Verne Westlake

1884 - 1939 Composer of "[Blessed be the glorious tidings]" in Hymns of the Christian Life Westlake, Arthur Verne. (1884-1939). Studied under Leschatisky in Vienna. Earned Doctor of Music degree. Concert pianist and instructor with studios in New York City and New Jersey. Taught at Taylor University. In 1923 moved to Nyack College where he led the Music Department until 1939. Conducted open-air services at Columbus Circle employing a portable organ. Wrote music for three of A.B. Simpson's poems, and one "Help Me Find My Way" both words and music as his personal testimony. --Paul Milburn, DNAH Archives
