John Francis Wade
1711 - 1786 Person Name: John Francias Wade Meter: 12.11.12 with refrain Author (attributed to) of "Oh, Vinde, Fiéis!" in Hinário para o Culto Cristão John Francis Wade (b. England, c. 1711; d. Douay, France, 1786) is now generally recognized as both author and composer of the hymn "Adeste fideles," originally written in Latin in four stanzas. The earliest manuscript signed by Wade is dated about 1743. By the early nineteenth century, however, four additional stanzas had been added by other writers. A Roman Catholic, Wade apparently moved to France because of discrimination against Roman Catholics in eighteenth-century England—especially so after the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. He taught music at an English college in Douay and hand copied and sold chant music for use in the chapels of wealthy families. Wade's copied manuscripts were published as Cantus Diversi pro Dominicis et Festis per annum (1751).

Jose Antonio Olivar
1939 - 2019 Person Name: J. A. Olivar Meter: 12.11.12 with refrain Author of "When a Poor One" in The Presbyterian Hymnal José Antonio Olivar is also a writer and journalist Efe Agency and a very dear person in Lastres. The son of a seafaring family, Olivier went through difficult times during his childhood. He lost his parents and four brothers and faced the harsh post-war period as an orphan.
Hosted by his grandmother, he studied at the Seminary of Covadonga and Oviedo and he built a career of great prestige and recognition throughout the country. He has won several national awards for poetry and has worked as a journalist in popular newspapers and national agencies.
In his journalistic work out the last time as deputy director of the magazine "Hello!". Olivar printed in this genre of magazines and friendly style compatible with both newsworthy. He has traveled around the world, interviewing and making friends with the most diverse personalities from all fields of social life, art and politics. It also cites his role as music composer with known letters to both religious and secular songs. The prize "Honor Manín 2012" will be presented by the choir sailor on the eve of the big day the festival of San Roque de Llastres, on August 18th, at eight o'clock.

Miguel Manzano
b. 1934 Meter: 12.11.12 with refrain Author of "When a Poor One" in The Presbyterian Hymnal Miguel Manzano is a Spanish composer and singer. He was born in Aillamor de Cardozo near the border with Portugal. Miguel began his religious musical career at the age of 8 as cantor at the Cathedral of Zamora, Spain. He studied solfeg, piano, organ and harmonium with the renowned teacher, Gaspar Arabaolaza. Later on, he began studies at the Higher School of Sacred Music in Madrid, where he studied Rhythm and Gregorian Modality, as well as Harmony and Religious Polyphony. He furthered his studies of language and musical rhythm at the Catholic Institute of Paris.
Miguel's internationally recognized music has been chosen to complete the repertoire of the National Liturgical Hymnal of the Espicopal Committee of Spanish Liturgy. At present he is Professor of Ethnic Music at the Higher Conservatory of Music in Salamanca.

1847 - 1929 Meter: 12.11.12 with refrain Translator of "Oh, Vinde, Fiéis!" in Hinário para o Culto Cristão Born in 1847. He was a missionary in Bahia, Brazil under the Presbyterian Board of New York, he later was transferred to Rio de Janeiro. He collaborated on the hymnal Hinos e Cânticos Sagrados published by John Boyle in Rio de Janeiro, 1888. After 28 years of ministry, he returned to the United States and died in Oakland, CA at the age of 82.

George Lockwood
b. 1946 Meter: 12.11.12 with refrain Translator of "When a Poor One" in The Presbyterian Hymnal Rev. George Lockwood was born in 1946 and has been a missionary to Costa Rica. He has pastored Spanish-speaking congregations in both Arizona and California and served on the editorial committee for the Methodist hymnal supplement Celebremos II. In addition, Lockwood has traveled throughout Central and South America interviewing church musicians and gathering new hymns from both Spanish and Portuguese cultures which he then presents at conferences and workshops.

1921 - 1988 Meter: 12.11.12 with refrain Arranger of "EL CAMINO" in The Presbyterian Hymnal Alvin Schutmaat (b. 1921; d. 1988). Using arts to communicate the gospel, Columbian Alvin Schutmaat studied Latin American literature and education in Edinburgh, returning to Colombia to teach theology and music at the Presbyterian Seminary in Bogata; he also taught at the Latin American Biblical Seminary in Costa Rica.
