Thank Him for the Sunshine

Author: J. Sala Leland Meter: 12.11.12.11 D Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: There are moments in each life that bring their sadness Refrain First Line: Yes, we'll thank our loving Master for the sunshine Lyrics: 1. There are moments in each life that bring their sadness; There are other precious moments that bring joy; But we’ll thank our loving Master for the sunshine Of the moments that His service doth employ. Refrain Yes, we’ll thank our loving Master for the sunshine That is shining in our soul-life, come to stay; We will love Him and we’ll praise Him for the blessing Of His joyous presence in our hearts today. 2. There are blessings when the clouds hang down in darkness, For the raindrops then will soon begin to fall, And the place that long has been so dry and thirsting Gains a blessing from the Father over all. [Refrain] 3. All about us God, in nature, seems but smiling, From the rivulets and daisies in the field; And through every life He seeks to send a message, If to Him our highest talents we will yield. On This Night, Most Holy

Author: R. Michael Cullinan Meter: 12.11.12.11 D Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: On this night, most holy, in circumstance lowly Lyrics: 1. On this night, most holy, in circumstance lowly, Unfolded the story which prophets foretold. Though heav’ns could not hold Him, Mary’s arms enfold Him, Holding to her bosom this Child who is God! The virgin is nursing this wondrous infant King— The Word that was made flesh to end our despair. While angels adore Him, shepherds kneel before Him And kings from the east follow after His star. 2. To Bethlehem hasten! See Jesus awaken! The stable is glowing with this Light of lights! Come hear the great story of God’s crowning glory: The Savior Incarnate—God with us unites. Now church bells are ringing and Christians are singing While off’ring their gifts in devotion and love. Your people are waiting and anticipating The day You return from the heavens above. Shadows

Author: C. H. B. Meter: 12.11.12.11 D Appears in 3 hymnals First Line: Oft we speak about the shadows which beset us Refrain First Line: There can be no shadow where the sun’s not shining Lyrics: 1 Oft we speak about the shadows which beset us As we travel onward on our homeward way; But the shades, however dark, will never fret us If this truth we will remember every day. Refrain: There can be no shadow where the sun’s not shining, It’s the sunlight forms the shadows, as we know; Face the sun, and you will cease your sad repining, As your path will be illumined by its glow. 2 On our path the sun of righteousness is shining; We’ll see shadows if our backs are turned to Him; Turn about, and instantly you will be finding That before you lies not e’en the shadow’s rim. [Refrain] 3 So, if e’er you feel your spirit has grown weary, You may know your back is turned unto the light; Turn to Jesus and your heart will not be dreary, He will flood it with His sunshine warm and bright. [Refrain] 4 Let us open wide our darkened hearts to Jesus, He who said that of this world He is the light; From the shadows of this life He’ll surely free us, And will cheer us even in the darkest night. [Refrain] Scripture: John 8:12 Used With Tune: [Oft we speak about the shadows that beset us] Text Sources: Timeless Truths (http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Shadows); Review and Herald Publishing Association, The Gospel in Song, 1926 (159)

The Master Hath Come

Author: Sarah Doudney Meter: 12.11.12.11 D Appears in 49 hymnals First Line: The Master hath come, and He calls us to follow Lyrics: 1 The Master hath come, And He calls us to follow The track of the footprints He leaves on our way; Far over the mountain And thro' the deep hollow, The path leads us on to the mansions of day: The Master hath called us, the children who fear Him, Who march 'neath Christ's banner, His own little band; We love Him and seek Him, we long to be near Him, And rest in the light Of His beautiful land. 2 The Master hath called us; the road may be dreary, And dangers and sorrows are strewn on the track; But God's Holy Spirit Shall comfort the weary; We follow the Savior and cannot turn back; The Master hath called us: tho' doubt and temptation May compass our journey, we cheerfully sing: "Press onward, look upward," thro' much tribulation; The children of Zion must follow their King. 3 The Master hath called us, in life's early morning, With spirits as fresh as the dew on the sod: We turn from the world, with its smiles and its scorning, To cast in our lot With the people of God: The Master hath called us, His sons and His daughters, We plead for His blessing And trust in His love; And thro' the green pastures, beside the still waters, He'll lead us at last To His kingdom above. A Wedding Took Place

Author: Susan Peterson Meter: 12.11.12.11 D Appears in 1 hymnal First Line: A wedding took place in the village of Cana Lyrics: 1. A wedding took place in the village of Cana, And Jesus, His mother, and followers all came. The wine was exhausted, and Mary informed Him, They have no more wine—this would surely bring shame. Dear woman, He answered, why do you involve Me? My time to be recognized has not yet come. His mother then said to the servants there waiting, Whatever He tells you, now let it be done. 2. Six water jars stood there for ritual washing, Each holding then full twenty gallons or more. He said to the servants, Now fill them with water. They filled them brimful; there was no room for more. Then Jesus instructed, Take some to the master. The water had turned into wine—none knew how. On tasting, the master exclaimed in amazement, The choicest and best wine you’ve saved until now! 3. When Jesus turned water to wine there in Cana, This was the first miracle He’d ever done. His glory He thus did reveal to the people, And as a result, His disciples were won. Lord, may I be like them, believing You fully. And like the stone water jars, may I e’er be, Filled up to the brim with Your transforming Spirit. Reveal now Your glory to others through me.
