Author: E. E. Hewitt Hymnal: Gospel Herald in Song #58 (1899) First Line: Do you hear a song resounding thro' the strife Refrain First Line: Ring, ring, ring, ring, song of joy and gladness Lyrics: 1 Do you hear a song resounding thro’ the strife
From the soldiers of the battle-field of life?
They are singing of the banner of our King,
And the grace that shall abundant vict’ry bring.
Refrain:
Ring, ring, ring, ring, song of joy and gladness;
Ring, ring, ring, ring, triumph over sadness,
Christ our Leader, ever near,
Strengthens us with hope and cheer;
Hear the notes of praise resounding, sweet and clear.
2 Join the song, ye weak and wounded in the war,
Sing of rest forever on the Golden Shore;
Sing of love that sweetly binds the broken heart,
Love that everlasting blessing will impart. [Refrain]
3 O be brave and joyous, heroes of the Cross,
Do not pine because of earthly pain or loss;
Since the Lord of hosts is with us all the days,
Lift your voices in a gladsome hymn of praise. [Refrain]
