1859 - 1933 Author of "When Christ was born in Bethlehem" in Hymns of the Centuries Born: March 15, 1859, Shippensburg, Pennsylvania. Died: April 17, 1933, Easton, Pennsylvania. A member of the Nevin musical family, George’s cousins were composers Ethelbert and Arthur Nevin; his son, Gordon Balch Nevin, also became a composer. George spent most of his life in the town of Easton. His output consisted mainly of cantatas, and included such works as The Crown of Life and The Incarnation.
