Emily R. Brink

b. 1940 Composer (descant) of "MEPHIBOSHETH" in Songs for Life Emily R. Brink is a Senior Research Fellow of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship and Adjunct Professor of Church Music and Worship at Calvin Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her main areas of responsibility are conference planning and global resources. She is program manager of the annual Calvin Symposium on Worship, which draws more than 70 presenters and 1600 participants from around the world. She also travels widely to lecture and to learn about worship in different parts of the world, especially in Asia, where she has lectured in Bangladesh, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan. Her areas of interest include congregational song from all times and places; psalmody; hymnal editing. She was editor of four hymnals and consults with a wide range of churches on worship renewal issues. Dr. Brink is active in the American Guild of Organists, serving in both local and national offices, as well as in the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada (president from 1990 1992) and named a Fellow of the Hymn Society in 2004 in recognition of distinguished services to hymnody and hymnology. --internal.calvinseminary.edu/

Michael Saward

1932 - 2015 Versifier of "Protect Me, God: I Trust in You" in Psalter Hymnal (Gray) Michael John Saward (b. Blackheath, Kent, England, 1932) was residentiary Canon of St. Paul's Cathedral, London, and a church commissioner and member of the general synod of the Church of England. Educated at Eltham College, Bristol University, and Tyndale Hall, he was ordained in the Church of England in 1956. Saward served in several congregations and was radio and television officer for the Church Information Office (1967-1972). His publications include Leisure (1963), Couldn’t Care Less (1966), Don't Miss the Party (1974), and All Change (1983). Associated with the Jubilate Group for a number of years, he has written some sixty hymns and served as text editor for Hymns for Today's Church (1982). Bert Polman

1932 - 2020 Person Name: M. Christian T. Strover (1932-) Composer of "MEPHIBOSHETH" in Psalter Hymnal (Gray) Christian T. Strover (b. Colchester, Essex, England, 1932) received the B.Litt. and MA degrees from Hertford College in Oxford, England. He was director of music at Emanuel School (Battersea Rise), 1956-1997) and organist and choirmaster at Christ Church in Beckenham, Kent, England (1956-2020).
