Elisabeth Burrowes is a resident of Berkeley, California, formerly of Englewood, New Jersey. She is the mother of five children, has a number of grandchildren, is the author of two books and numerous poems. Her hymn "God of the ages by whose hand", published by the Hymn Society of America in 1958, will appear in the forthcoming new edition of The Methodist Hymnal. Mrs. Burrowes, an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church, has recently affiliated with The South Berkeley Community Church, an inter-racial Church which is doing a deeply dedicated and inspiring work. Mrs. Burrowes wrote the Anniversary Hymn, "Almighty God, we pray thee still to guide us", for its celebration in 1964. Her married name is Mrs. Paul deNyse Burrowes. She is also the author of one of the Children's Hymns recently published by the Hymn Society entitled "Our Father, who dost lead us."
