1806 - 1874 Hymnal Number: d85 Author of "In some way or other, the Lord will provide" in Living Praise No. 2 Martha Elizabeth Duncan Walker Cook USA 1806-1874. Born in Northcumberland County, PA, she married Rev. Parsons Cook, editor of a Boston paper called “The Puritan Recorder”. She contributed to, and for a time, was editor of the “Continental Monthly”. She translated “The life of Chopin”, by Franz Liszt, from the French in 1863. She also translated “Undivine comedy” by Zygmund Krasinski in 1875. She died in Hoboken, NJ.

William Ellsworth Witter
1854 - 1954 Person Name: Will E. Witter Hymnal Number: d223 Author of "While Jesus whispers to you" in Living Praise No. 2 Witter, Will Ellsworth, was born Dec. 9, 1854, near La Grange, New York, and educated at the Genessee State Normal School, New York, and the University of Rochester. From the latter he passed in 1880 to the Rochester Baptist Theological Seminary, and in 1884 he entered the Baptist Ministry. He has written several songs and poems, one of which:—
While Jesus whispers to you (The Divine Call) has come into somewhat prominent use. It was written in July 1878, and originated mainly in the great anxiety of the author respecting two of his pupils. In 1878 it was set to music by H. R. Palmer, and included in his Book of Anthems, 1878: from whence it passed into Good as Gold, and I. D. Sankey's Sacred Songs and Solos, London 1881.

Died: February 28, 1917, Lowville, New York.
A Methodist Episcopal minister, Fitch ran general stores in Morristown and Briar Hill, New York. He served as Justice of the Peace, Town Supervisor, and Postmaster at Brier Hill, and as treasurer of the Thousand Island Park Association. He also edited the Lowville Times, and wrote religious and other poetry.
