Swee-Hong Lim

b. 1963 Person Name: Swee Hong Lim Hymnal Number: 2277 Author of "Lord, Have Mercy" in The Faith We Sing Dr. Swee Hong Lim is the Deer Park Assistant Professor of Sacred Music at Emmanuel College, and the Director of the Master of Sacred Music Program. He also serves as Director of the Chapel for the worship life of Emmanuel College. Before joining Emmanuel on July 1, 2012, Dr. Lim served as an Assistant Professor of Church Music at Baylor University. Prior to his work at Baylor, he served as a Lecturer of Worship, Liturgy, and Music at Trinity Theological College in Singapore. Swee Hong is widely utilized as a leader for global seminars and conferences dealing with sacred music. He currently serves as the Co-Moderator of the Worship Committee for the 10th General Assembly of the World Council of Churches for its meeting in Busan, South Korea (2013), and also served as a member of the Worship Planning Committee for the 2011 Ecumenical Peace Convocation sponsored by the World Council held in Jamaica. From 2008-2010, he chaired the Board of Worship and Music for the Trinity Annual Conference of the Methodist Church in Singapore. Swee Hong holds a PhD in Liturgical Studies from Drew University, where his dissertation won the Helen LePage and William Hale Chamberlain Prize for Outstanding Dissertation. He also holds a Master of Arts in Sacred Music from Perkins School of Theology. He completed his undergraduate work in Church Music at the Asian Institute for Liturgy and Music in the Philippines. Swee Hong is well-published in global music, with his monograph, Giving Voice to Asian Christians, especially known among global musicians. He is also a prolific composer of hymnody. b. 1934 Person Name: Jeffery Rowthorn Hymnal Number: 2114 Author of "At the Font We Start Our Journey" in The Faith We Sing Jeffery W. Rowthorn (b. Newport, Gwent, Wales, 1934) wrote this text in 1978 while he was Chapel Minister at Yale Divinity School, New Haven, Connecticut. The text was first published in Laudamus (1980), a hymnal supplement edited by Rowthorn and used at the Yale Divinity School. Rowthorn graduated from Cambridge and Oxford Universities, Union Theological Seminary in New York, and Cuddeson Theological College in Oxford. Ordained in 1963 in the Church of England, he served several congregations in England before immigrating to the United States, where he was chaplain at Union Theological Seminary and a faculty member in liturgics at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, which he helped to establish. He was then elected Suffragan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Connecticut. The writer of several hymns, Rowthorn was also coeditor with Russell Schulz-Widmar of A New Hymnal for Colleges and Schools (1991). Bob Kilpatrick

b. 1952 Hymnal Number: 2150 Author of "Lord, Be Glorified" in The Faith We Sing Bob Kilpatrick is a Scottish-American singer/songwriter/producer/broadcaster, born in Louisville, Kentucky. He is best known for composing the gospel standard "In My Life Lord Be Glorified", being the driving force behind Fair Oaks Records in Sacramento, CA and for presenting a regular Time Out With Bob Kilpatrick on the K-Love Radio Network. His live musical output is a mix of folk, gospel and progressive rock. Beginning in the early 70’s with his wife Cindy (similar in style to Richard & Linda Thompson) and touring through much of the 1980s and 1990s predominantly as a solo artist. His self-effacing live demeanor could be likened to a "born-again" Loudon Wainwright III. The remainder of the 1990s and the start of the following decade saw him develop into an eminent Christian music producer, working with the likes of Randy Stonehill, Phil Keaggy, Sara Groves and Noel Stookey. In 2006, Kilpatrick released his most innovative project to date entitled This Changes Everything. This was inspired by the passing of one of his spiritual mentors and also contains direct and powerful references to his Christian faith. In many ways the thematic scope of This Changes Everything is reminiscent of the Larry Norman album So Long Ago the Garden or the Jackie Leven comeback release The Mystery of Love Is Greater Than the Mystery of Death. As a songwriter, he has garnered critical and popular acclaim for his work. Beginning with "In My Life Lord Be Glorified" and following up with other favorites such as "Won By One," "I Will Not Be Ashamed," "Here Am I" and "Tell Me the Story." His 2003 compilation album Think Pray Groove documents his many musical influences that are highlighted with a live version of "In My Life Lord, Be Glorified" (he sends up his own song by performing it in the style of Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and The Beatles). When he is not either playing, writing or producing, Bob Kilpatrick is a national spokesman for the Colorado-based children's charity Compassion International, he travels extensively for musical and Christian ministry purposes (Kilpatrick is also an ordained minister) and is a regular contributor to the Christian musician Summits that occur in the Pacific Northwest. --en.wikipedia.org/wiki
