Englewood

Author: Granville P. Wilson; F. A. B. Hymnal: CoH1906 #73 (1906) First Line: Not wailing cries, nor bells that toll Lyrics: 1. Not wailing cries, nor bells that toll Their knell o'er yawning grave; 'Tis notes of joy to troubled soul, And sounds of life that save. 2. Not penance wound, nor dreadful scourge, Nor hatred's venomed steel; But gentle hand and loving word, And mercy's sweets that heal. 3. The sorrow, sadness, weeping eyes, To fallen earth are given; By joy and gladness 'tis we rise, From earthly things to heaven. 4. Far better seek where nature blooms, In groves by sighing sea, Than convent cells or cloister's gloom, The soul from sin to free. 5. Not flames that sweep, nor winds that blow, Nor earthquake shock abroad; The sweetest scenes on earth below, In them have most of God. Languages: English Tune Title: [Not wailing cries, nor bells that toll]

The Many Mansions

Author: C. M. S. Hymnal: CoH1906 #74 (1906) First Line: There are mansions full of glory Lyrics: 1. There are mansions full of glory Free from sorrow and from care; And our Saviour's gone before us That our home he might prepare. And we have the precious promise That when he shall come again, We shall dwell forever with him, Far beyond the reach of pain. 2. It is not a tent or cottage He has promised shall be ours, But an everlasting "mansion" Built among the fadeless flow'rs. Mansions here are always changing Ever turning to decay; But the mansion Christ will give us, It shall never pass away. 3. There within those peaceful mansions, Will be rest for all his own; And the promise speaks of "many" Lack of room there will be none. There'll be room for little children, Homeless and unwelcomed here For the outcast and the aged, When those mansions shall appear. 4. When within that home in glory, Safely housed we'll fear no harm; For we then shall be forever Neath our Father's mighty arm. I am glad that Jesus told us Of that wondrous home so fair, And I hope with all his loved ones, I shall safely enter there. Languages: English Tune Title: [There are mansions full of glory]

Submission

Hymnal: CoH1906 #75 (1906) First Line: I know I am willing to go where God leads Refrain First Line: Oh yes, I am willing to go or to stay Lyrics: 1. I know I am willing to go where God leads, To say what he bids me, to be what he pleads, Yet one thing I'm learning, to wait and be still, God wants his dear children to do his whole will. Refrain: Oh yes, I am willing to go or to stay, I only would know what he'd have me to do; For Jesus wants children to strictly obey, While waiting and watching his coming in view. 2. In lonliest valley or loftiest hill, What care I so long as my Lord has his will; My all I've surrendered, myself I resign To him who now keeps me by power divine. [Refrain] 3. And when at the end of the journey I meet The Lord who is waiting his loved ones to greet; I'll hear the words "faithful and true thou has been, Receive ye thy crown and enter thou in." [Refrain] Languages: English Tune Title: [I know I am willing to go where God leads]

In Jesus' Name We Meet

Author: Lucy Whitmore Hymnal: CoH1906 #77 (1906) First Line: Father, again in Jesus' name we meet Lyrics: 1. Father, again in Jesus' name we meet And bow in penitence beneath thy feet; Again to thee our feeble voices raise To sue for mercy and to sing thy praise. 2. Oh, we would bless thee for thy ceaseless care, And all thy work from day to day declare! Is not our life with hourly mercies crown'd? Does not thine arm encircle us around? 3. Alas! unworthy of thy boundless love, Too oft with careless feet from thee we rove; But now, encouraged by thy voice we come, Returning sinners, to a Father's home. 4. Oh, by that name in which all fulness dwells, Oh, by that love which ev'ry love excels, Oh, by that blood so freely shed for sin, Open blest mercy's gate, and take us in. Languages: English Tune Title: [Father, again in Jesus' name we meet]

Out in His Vineyard

The Master is calling, O come, let us go And glean in his vineyard today; The harvest is great and the lab'rers are few, Lord, send in more reapers we pray; The fields are all white with the ripe golden grain, The harvest will now soon be done; Go work in his vineyard, 'twill not be in vain, If souls for the Master are won. Chorus: Out in the Master's vineyard, Seeking for souls astray; Working most gladly for Jesus, Out in his vineyard today. 2. Then out to the harvest field seeking no rest Till Jesus our King shall be here; For him let us each now be doing our best, For soon, very soon, he'll apear; Press on with the work that he gives us to do; Go work in his vineyard today, Go, seeking each moment his blest will to know, And constantly work, watch and pray. The Coming King

Author: E. O. B. G. Hymnal: CoH1906 #80 (1906) First Line: Lo, our King is surely coming Refrain First Line: For our King is surely coming Lyrics: 1. Lo, our King is surely coming, Cry the sentinels today, From their watchtowers on the hilltops They are looking far away. And they see the waving signals, And they hear the measured tread That shall soon arrest the living, And awake the sleeping dead. Chorus: For our King is surely coming; Angel hosts shall shout it then, But his heralds he has chosen From among the sons of men. 2. Let him find you when he cometh, At your humble daily toil; At the sweeping of the kitchen, Or the tilling of the soil; Let him find you by the wayside, Helping on some stumbling child; Let him find you where the tempest Spreads its devastation wild. [Chorus] 3. Let him find you telling heathen Of the unknown God they seek; Let him find you in the sickroom, Cheering up the faint and weak; Let him find you in the city, Making straight the paths of youth, Let him find you in the pulpit Spreading forth his living truth. [Chorus] 4. But wherever he may find you, Let it be with tender hand; Guiding men to understanding Of his precept and command, For where'er our duty leads us, Be it humble work or fine He will honor most the spirit That shows forth his love divine. [Chorus] Languages: English Tune Title: [Lo, our King is surely coming]
