Author: Josiah Conder, 1789-1855 Hymnal: CPAM2000 #592a (2000) Meter: 8.8.8.8 Lyrics: 1 The Lord is King! lift up thy voice, O earth, and all ye heavens, rejoice; from world to world the joy shall ring, 'The Lord omnipotent is King!' 2 The Lord is King! who then shall dare resist his will, distrust his care, or murmur at his wise decrees, or doubt his royal promises? 3 He reigns! ye saints, exalt your strains; your God is King, your Father reigns; and he is at the Father's side, the Man of love, the Crucified. 4 Alike pervaded by his eye all parts of his dominion lie: this world of ours and worlds unseen, and thin the boundary between! 5 One Lord one empire all secures; he reigns, and life and death are yours; through earth and heaven one song shall ring, 'The Lord omnipotent is King!' The Lord my pasture shall prepare

Author: Joseph Addison, 1672-1719 Hymnal: CPAM2000 #593 (2000) Meter: 8.8.8.8.8.8 Lyrics: 1 The Lord my pasture shall prepare, and feed me with a shepherd's care; his presence shall my wants supply, and guard me with a watchful eye; my noonday walks he shall attend, and all my midnight hours defend. 2 When in the sultry glebe I faint, or on the thirsty mountain pant, to fertile vales and dewy meads my weary wandering steps he leads, where peaceful rivers, soft and slow, amid the verdant landscape flow. 3 Though in a bare and rugged way through devious lonely wilds I stray, thy bounty shall my pains beguile; the barren wilderness shall smile with sudden greens and herbage crowned, and streams shall murmur all around. 4 Though in the paths of death I tread, with gloomy horrors overspread, my steadfast heart shall fear no ill, for thou, 0 Lord, art with me still: thy friendly staff shall give me aid, and guide me through the dreadful shade. Topics: Proper 19 Year C Scripture: Ezekiel 34:12-15 Languages: English Tune Title: SURREY

The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want

Hymnal: CPAM2000 #594 (2000) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Lyrics: 1 The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want; he makes me down to lie in pastures green; he leadeth me the quiet waters by. 2 My soul he doth restore again, and me to walk doth make within the paths of righteousness, e'en for his own name's sake. 3 Yea, though I walk through death's dark vale, yet will I fear none ill; for thou art with me, and thy rod and staff me comfort still. 4 My table thou hast furnishèd in presence of my foes; my head thou dost with oil anoint, and my cup overflows. 5 Goodness and mercy all my life shall surely follow me; and in God's house for evermore my dwelling-place shall be. Topics: Proper 19 Year C; Funerals, Commemoration, Remembrance and All Souls Scripture: Isaiah 43:2 Languages: English Tune Title: CRIMOND

The Son of God his glory hides

Author: Jean de Santeul, 1630-1697; John Chandler, 1806-1876 Hymnal: CPAM2000 #595 (2000) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Lyrics: 1 The Son of God his glory hides to dwell with parents poor; and he who made the heavens abides in dwelling-place obscure. 2 Those mighty hands that stay the sky no earthly toil refuse; and he who set the stars on high an humble trade pursues. 3 He in whose sight the angels stand, at whose behest they fly, now yields himself to man's command, and lays his glory by. 4 For this thy lowliness revealed, Jesu, we thee adore, and praise to God the Father yield and Spirit evermore. Topics: Christmas Scripture: 2 Corinthians 8:13-15 Languages: English Tune Title: THIS ENDRYS NYGHT

There is a land of pure delight

Author: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748 Hymnal: CPAM2000 #597 (2000) Meter: 8.6.8.6 Lyrics: 1 There is a land of pure delight, where saints immortal reign; infinite day excludes the night, and pleasures banish pain. 2 There everlasting spring abides, and never-withering flowers; death, like a narrow sea, divides that heavenly land from ours. 3 Sweet fields beyond the swelling flood stand dressed in living green; so to the Jews old Canaan stood, while Jordan rolled between. 4 But timorous mortals start and shrink to cross the narrow sea, and linger shivering on the brink, and fear to launch away. 5 O could we make our doubts remove, those gloomy doubts that rise, and see the Canaan that we love with unbeclouded eyes; 6 Could we but climb where Moses stood, and view the landscape o'er, not Jordan's stream, nor death's cold flood, should fright us from the shore! Topics: Proper 14 Year C; Proper 25 Year A Scripture: Deuteronomy 34:1-4 Languages: English Tune Title: BEULAH

There's a wideness in God's mercy

Author: F. W. Faber, 1814-1863 Hymnal: CPAM2000 #598a (2000) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Lyrics: 1 There's a wideness in God's mercy like the wideness of the sea; there's a kindness in his justice which is more than liberty. 2 There is no place where earth's sorrows are more felt than up in heaven; there is no place where earth's failings have such kindly judgement given. 3 For the love of God is broader than the measure of man's mind; and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind. 4 But we make his love too narrow by false limits of our own; and we magnify his strictness with a zeal he will not own. 5 There is plentiful redemption in the blood that has been shed; there is joy for all the members in the sorrows of the Head. 6 There is grace enough for thousands of new worlds as great as this; there is room for fresh creations in that upper home of bliss. Descant: If our love were but more simple, we should take him at his word; and our lives would be all gladness in the joy of Christ our Lord. Topics: Third Sunday Before Lent Year B; Lent II Year C; Proper 5 Year B; Proper 8 Year B; Proper 26 Year B Scripture: Ephesians 1:7 Languages: English Tune Title: CORVEDALE
