O Happy Home Where Thou art Loved Most Dearly

Author: Sarah L. Findlater; C. J. Philipp Spitta Hymnal: The Lutheran Hymnal #626 (1941) Meter: 11.10.11.10 D Lyrics: 1 O happy home where Thou art loved most dearly, Thou faithful Friend and Savior full of grace And where among the guests there never cometh One who can hold such high and honored place! O happy home, where all, in heart united In holy faith and blessed hope, are one, Whom bitter death a little while divideth, Yet cannot end the union here begun! 2 O happy home where two, in heart united, In holy faith, are clinging unto Thee; Where both, to Thee a joyful service bringing, Hear and obey Thy voice most willingly; Where both, to Thee in truth forever cleaving, In joy, in grief, make Thee their only Stay And fondly hope in Thee to be believing Both in the good and in the evil day. 3 O happy home whose little ones are given Early to Thee, in humble faith and prayer, To Thee, their Friend, who from the heights of heaven Guides them and guards with more than mother’s care! O happy home, where each one serves Thee, lowly, Whatever his appointed work may be, Till ev'ry common task seems great and holy When it is done, O Lord, as unto Thee! 4 O happy home, where Thou art not forgotten When joy is overflowing, full, and free! O happy home, where ev'ry wounded spirit Is brought, O great Physician, unto Thee, Until at last, when earthly toil is ended, All meet Thee in the blessed home above, From whence Thou camest, where Thou hast ascended, Thine everlasting home of peace and love! Amen. Topics: The Christian Home The Family Scripture: Genesis 18:19 Languages: English Tune Title: O SELIG HAUS

I cannot tell why He whom angels worship

Author: William Young Fullerton, 1857-1932 Hymnal: The Irish Presbyterian Hymnbook #648 (2004) Meter: 11.10.11.10 D Lyrics: 1 I cannot tell why He whom angels worship should set His love upon the sons of men; or why as shepherd He should seek the wanderers, to bring them back, they know not how or when. But this I know, that He was born of Mary when Bethlehem's manger was His only home, and that He lived at Nazareth and laboured; and so the Saviour, Saviour of the world, has come. 2 I cannot tell how silently He suffered, as with His peace He graced this place of tears; or how His heart upon the cross was broken, the crown of pain to three and thirty years. But this I know, He heals the broken-hearted and stays our sin and calms our lurking fear, and lifts the burden from the heavy-laden; for still the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is here. 3 I cannot tell how He will win the nations, how He will claim His earthly heritage, how satisfy the needs and aspirations of east and west, of sinner and of sage. But this I know, all flesh shall see His glory, and He shall reap the harvest He has sown, and some glad day His sun will shine in splendour when He the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is known. 4 I cannot tell how all the lands shall worship, when at His bidding every storm is stilled; or who can say how great the jubilation when all our hearts with love for Him are filled. But this I know, the skies will sound His praises, ten thousand thousand human voices sing, and earth to heaven, and heaven to earth, will answer: 'At last the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is King!' Our Promise, Praise and Petition

Author: Adlise I Porter Hymnal: The A.M.E. Zion Hymnal #671 (1999) Meter: 11.10.11.10 D First Line: We pledge our all in service to the master Lyrics: 1 We pledge our all in service to the master. We'll give to Him our best in every way. The road is hard Lord, keep us from disaster. And guide our feet, lest we should go astray. O thank you Lord, for the many ways that you can bless. And calm our hearts when life seems all "up hill". Keep us forever in the path of righteousness. Give us the faith we need to do your precious will. 2 Too many hearts don't know your love and eminence. Many the naked, hungry suff'ring soul. O make us vessels of your great omnipotence To show them that Your power can make them whole. Our world is full of pain and tribulation. Satan is there to quickly take control. But Lord with You we'll conquer ev'ry opposition. Teach us to let Your Holy Spirit flood each soul. 3 And then one day this rugged journey's end will come. We'll join the saints who labored long ago. We'll have to stand before You in Your kingdom, There to be judged for deeds done here belo'. O Gracious Lord, forgive the times that we did err So that the record will be white as sno' And may we hear You say: "My children enter" Where we shall dwell with Thee forever mo'. Amen.
