Soldiers of Christ, Arise

Author: Charles Wesley Hymnal: Baptist Hymnal 2008 #658 (2008) Meter: 6.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 Soldiers of Christ, arise And put your armor on, Strong in the strength which God supplies Thro' His eternal Son; Strong in the Lord of hosts And in His mighty power, Who in the strength of Jesus trusts Is more than conqueror. 2 Stand then in His great might, With all His strength endued, And take, to arm you for the fight, The panoply of God. From strength to strength go on And wrestle, fight and pray; Tread all the powers of darkness down And win the well fought day. 3 Leave no unguarded place, No weakness of the soul; Take ev'ry virtue, ev'ry grace, And fortify the whole; That having all things done, And all your conflicts past, Ye may overcome thro' Christ alone And stand complete at last. Members of Christ are we

Author: Isaac Williams, 1802-1865 Hymnal: CPWI Hymnal #660 (2010) Lyrics: 1 Members of Christ are we; he is our living head. That henceforth we should ever be by his good Spirit led in the same narrow path our Lord and Saviour trod — the path that leadeth by the cross to glory and to God. 2 Children of God are we; such grace to us is given, to kneel and pray in Christ’s own words, 'Father, which art in heaven;' seeking to do his will as angels do above, and walking in obedient ways of holy truth and love. 3 Of heaven’s kingdom we inheritors were made; each at the font in Christ’s own robe of spotless white arrayed. Upon our forehead now is traced the suffering sign, that one day on each saintly brow a glorious crown may shine. 4 Christ’s little ones are we; and unto us are given angelic guards, who ever see our Father’s face in heaven. To walk in folly now we may not, must not, dare, mindful whose seal is on our brow, whose holy name we bear. Commit Now All Your Griefs

Author: Paul Gerhardt; John Wesley Hymnal: Trinity Hymnal (Rev. ed.) #669 (1990) Meter: 6.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 Commit thou all your griefs and ways into his hands; to his sure truth and tender care, who earth and heav'n commands. Who points the clouds their course, whom winds and seas obey, he shall direct your wand'ring feet, hHe shall prepare your way. 2 Give to the winds your fears; hope, and be undismayed; God hears your sighs and counts your tears, God shall lift up your head. Through waves and clouds and storms he gently clears your way; wait for his time, so shall the night soon end in joyous day. 3 Still heavy is your heart? Still sink your spirits down? Cast off the weight, let fear depart, and every care be gone. He everywhere has sway, and all things serve his might; his every act pure blessing is, his path unsullied light. 4 Far, far above your thought his counsel shall appear, when fully he the work has wrought that caused your needless fear. Leave to his sovereign sway to choose and to command; with wonder filled, you then hall own how wise, how strong his hand. Crown Him with Many Crowns

Author: Matthew Bridges, 1800-1894; Godfrey Thring, 1823-1903 Hymnal: RitualSong (2nd ed.) #669 (2016) Meter: 6.6.8.6 D Lyrics: 1 Crown him with many crowns, The Lamb upon his throne. Hark! How the heav'nly anthem drowns All music but its own. Awake, my soul, and sing Of him who set us free, And hail him as your heav'nly King Through all eternity. 2 Crown him the Lord of life, Who triumphed o'er the grave, And rose victorious in the strife For those he came to save. His glories now we sing, Who died and rose on high, Who died, eternal life to bring, And lives that death may die. 3 Crown him the Lord of love-- Behold his hands and side, Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified. No angel in the sky Can fully bear that sight, But downward bends his burning eye At mysteries so bright. 4 Crown him the Lord of peace, Whose pow'r a scepter sways From pole to pole, that wars may cease, Absorbed by prayer and praise. His reign shall know no end, And round his pierced feet Fair flow'rs of paradise extend Their fragrance ever sweet. 5 Crown him the Lord of years, The master of all time, Creator of the rolling spheres, And risen Lord sublime. All hail, Redeemer, hail! For you have died for me; Your praise and glory shall not fail Throughout eternity.
