Died: Ap­ril 30, 1946, Fort Worth, Tex­as. Buried: Green­wood Ce­me­te­ry, Fort Worth, Texas. Note: Some sourc­es give his first name as John; his tomb­stone says James. Thomas was the hus­band of Court­ney Lee Wig­ley and Pearl Hat­chett (mar­ried 1923) In 1874, his fa­mi­ly moved from their farm in Tex­as to Ar­kan­sas. His fa­ther died lat­er that year. As the old­est son, he had his hands full sup­port­ing the fa­mi­ly, but he ma­naged to be­gin at­tend­ing a vo­cal school at age 17, un­der Pro­fes­sor T. A. Bridg­es. He lat­er stu­died un­der Ho­ra­tio Pal­mer and George A. Good­rich. He be­gan a full time mu­sic ca­reer in 1890, and with Frank­lin Ei­land and John M. Greer, and helped found the Trio Mu­sic Com­pa­ny in Wa­co, Tex­as, in 1892. He went on to es­tab­lish the Quar­tet Mu­sic Com­pa­ny in Fort Worth, Tex­as. Buried: Martin Memorial Cemetery, Clanton, Alabama. Marion W. Easterling, composed over 300 southern gospel songs. He received his music education in various singing schools, being taught by Ocie Lee DeVaughan, Dad Speer and others. In 1938, he was the youngest composer to sign a five year contract with the Stamps-Baxter Publishing Company. He has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for his long career as the programmer for the WKLF Radio stations's gospel program "America's Favorites". The program began in December 1947 and continued for 39 years, during which time, he broadcast over 20,000 shows. --www.findagrave.com/

Songwriter and composr Blanche (Kerr) Brock at­tend­ed the In­di­an­a­po­lis Con­ser­va­to­ry of Mu­sic and the Amer­i­can Con­ser­va­to­ry of Mu­sic, in Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois. In 1914 she married her husband Virgil Brock. Together they wrote over five hundred songs. Af­ter teaching for two years, he joined the Fill­more Bro­thers Mu­sic House in Cin­cin­na­ti, Ohio. As of 1880, he was teach­ing mu­sic in Doug­las Coun­ty, Col­o­ra­do. In 1884, was an evan­gel­ist in California, and later was as­so­ci­ated with evan­gel­is­tic efforts in Tex­as, and taught mu­sic and Bi­ble at Carl­ton College in Bon­ham, Tex­as. He wrote several popular Gospel songs, often led the singing for protracted meetings, and helped compile hymnals for the Firm Foundation Company of Austin.
