Refrain: Hid away, hid away, Hid away with Jesus; I’m washed and cleansed in Jesus’ blood, My heart is filled with praises; Hid away, hid away, Hid away with Jesus; “My life is hid with Christ in God,” I’m hid away with Jesus. 2 A home in sect, no, not for me; My home came down from heaven— Jerusalem, so pure and free! To all the door is open. [Refrain] 3 Surrounded by salvation’s wall, A fortress strong, abiding, The pow’rs of earth, “the gates of hell,” Are weak and unprevailing. [Refrain] 4 Jerusalem—home from above— The home that hath foundation; Her children all are born of love, And blest with full salvation. [Refrain] Tune Title: [From all the world I've turned aside]

Blest is the Man, to whom the GOD of Heaven

Hymnal: The Psalms of David #XXXII (1767) Scripture: Psalm 32 Lyrics: 1 Blest is the Man, to whom the GOD of Heaven, All his Transgressions freely hath forgiven: Whose Guilt is cover'd, and shall not appear; At GOD's Tribunal to condemn him there. Thrice bless'd is he, who as he has transgressed, With contrite Heart hath all his Crimes confessed; To whom the LORD will not impute his Sin, And whose pure Soul from all Deceit is clean. 2 Whilst I concael'd my Sin, my heart was grieved, My Bones consuming could not be relieved; All Day, did I with Anguish roar; But no Complaints assuag'd my fretting Sore. Heavy, O LORD! thy Hand on me remain'd, And I was quite of vital Moisture drained; Like parched Lands, with Summer's Drought opprest, And equally by Day and Night distress'd. 3 But I no sooner had my Guilt disclosed, Than thy Forgiveness kindly interposed; I shew'd the Wound that tortur'd me within, And Mercy's healing Balm was poured in. Thus with Success Repentance shall be crowned, Whilst in the Flood the thoughtless Wretch is drowned: To those who seek, and would thy Pardon find, Thou art, O LORD! in mercy still inclin'd. Part II 4 Thy Mercies never fail, when I'm distressed, By thee, my haughty Foes are all suppressed: Thou art my Refuge, safe I will rejoice, And thee, my Saviour, praise with Heart and Voice. If then my safe Instructions you confide in, The sacred paths of Truth you will abide in; Your Progress I securely will direct, And with my watchful Eye your Ways protect. 5 Be ye like Men who Reason have attained, And not like those whose Fury must be reined; Behave not like th' ungovern'd Horse or Mule, But yield yourselves to Wisdom's sacred Rule, Sorrows on Sorrows ever multiplied, Are heap'd on those who have the LORD defied; While plenteous Mercy shall the Just surround, Who have in him their only Refuge found. 6 Then let the Saints be glad in GOD their Saviour; Rejoice, ye Righteous, in th' Almighty's Favour: Ye upright ones, your chearful Voices raise, In grateful Raptures sing JEHOVAH's Praise. Topics: Description of Fear and Service of the Lord; Description of Happiness of Man; Thanksgivings Forgivness of Sins Languages: English Tune Title: [Blest is the man, to whom the God of Heaven]

Thrice happy he, whose sins his God forgives

Hymnal: New Version of the Psalms of David #XXXII (1756) Scripture: Psalm 32 Lyrics: 1 Thrice happy he, whose sins his God forgives; His crimes in deep oblivion lost, who lives; 2 Whose slips, whose failings are not counted his; Whose foul perversely does not act amiss! 3 For me, while I my secret faults conceal'd, While not the errors of my life revealed, A tabid weakness seiz'd my languid bones, The tedious hours I spent in piteous moans; 4 Thy heavy hand I felt by night, by day, And all my juices melted quick away. 5 Soon then to thee, O gracious God, I turn'd, My many crimes, my various errors mourn'd; Soon then to thee I all my sins confest, And strait with pardon from thy love was blest. 6 For this the pious heart, the soul sincere, In fitting time shall fly to thee in pray'r; Nor, tho' the rising floods this earth o'erspread, Shall they the threat'nings of the billows dread. 7 My sure defence, my certain refuge thou, No griefs, no perils, can o'er-whelm me now; My soul dost thou replenish with thy joy, And all my woes, and all my terrors fly. 8 Nay more; thou kindly promisest thy aid; "Mine hand (thou criest) shall point thee where to tread; "Mine eye shall guide thee in the perfect way; "And round thy feet I'll beam continued day. 9 "But thou the restiff mule resemble not, "The fierce impetuous steed, devoid of thought, "Which, if not govern'd by the bitted rein, "Wou'd rove in savage liberty the plain." 10 His gracious goodness this; such mercy they Have from their God, who his high will obey. While dread tremendous punishments await The wretch that in his crimes is obstinate. 11 Come then, ye righteous souls, indulge your joy, In tuneful hymns your happy hours employ; Be God the object of your love, your trust; And in his saving pow'r rejoice, ye just.
