Hymnal: The Psalms, Hymns and Spiritual Songs of the Old and New Testament, faithully translated into English metre #PLXVI (1758) Scripture: Psalm 66 First Line: O all ye lands, with shouts of joy Lyrics: 1 O all ye lands, with shouts of joy, to GOD your voices raise: 2 Sing forth the honour of his name, and glorious make his praise. 3 Say ye to GOD; 'In thy great works 'how terrible art Thou; 'Thro' thy almighty pow'r thy foes to Thee are made to bow: 4 'Yea all the nations of the earth shall bow and sing to Thee; 'To thine exalted Name shall sing 'with joy and melody.' (Selah) 5 Come, and the might works of GOD with admiration see; In doings to the sons of men, how terrible is He? 6 He turn'd the channels of the sea to dry and solid ways; Our fathers pass'd the flood on foot; and there we sang his praise. 7 He by his pow'r for ever rules; his eyes the nations spie; Let notne who are rebellious dare to lift themselves on high. (Selah) [2 Part] 8 O all ye people, bless our God, and sound aloud his praise; 9 Who puts and holds our souls in life, and feet from sliding stays. 10 For Thou, O GOD, hast proved us, and try'd as silver try'd. 11 Into a net hast wound us fast, our loins hast straitly ty'd. 12 Men o'er our heads Thou mad'st to ride, thro' fire and floods we past; Yet Thou into a happy place, of freedom brought us hast. 13 With off'rings I'll go to thy house, my vows I'll pay to Thee; 14 Which my lips utter'd and mouth spake, when trouble was on me. 15 Burnt off'rings I will offer Thee, that full of fatness are; The best of all my flocks and herds, which incense I'll prepare. (Selah.) 16 O come and hearken now to me all ye who GOD revere; And what He for my soul hath done, I'll gratefully declare. 17 My mouth to him in my distress sent forth my earnest cry: He heard me, and my joyful tongue extolled Him on high. 18 If in my heart I sin allow'd, the Lord would not give ear: 19 But surely GOD gave ear to me, and kindly heard my pray'r. 20 O let this kind and mighty GOD, for ever blessed be; Who turned not my pray'r from Him, nor mercy held from me. Ye men on earth, in God rejoice

Author: T. S. Hymnal: The Whole Book of Psalms #LXVI (1790) Scripture: Psalm 66 Lyrics: 1 Ye men on earth, in God rejoice, with praise set forth his Name, Exalt his might with heart and voice, give glory to the same. 2 How wonderful, O Lord, say ye, in all thy works thou art! Thy foes for fear shall seek to thee, full sore against their heart. 3 All men that dwell the earth thro'out shall praise the Name of God. The laud whereof the world about is shew'd and set abroad. 4 All folk, come forth, behold and see what things the Lord hath wrought, Mark well the wond'rous works that he for men to pass hath brought: 5 He laid the sea like heaps on high, therein a way they had On foot to pass, both fair and dry, whereof their hearts were glad. 6 His might doth rule the world alway, his eyes all things behold; And such as will him disobey by him shall be controul'd. 7 Ye people, give unto our God due laud and thanks always; With joyful voice declare abroad and sing unto his praise, 8 Who doth endue our soul with life, and it preserve withal; He stays our feet, so that no strife can make us slip or fall. 9 The Lord doth prove our deeds with fire, whether they will abide, As workmen do when they desire to have their metals try'd. 10 Although thou dost us suffer long in prison to be cast, And there with chains and fetters strong to lie in bondage fast; The Second Part. 11 Although, I say, thou suffer men on us to ride and reign, Tho' we thro' fire and water run with very grief and pain; 12 Yet sure thou dost of thy good grace dispose it to the best, Bringing us out into a place to live in wealth and rest. 13 Unto thy house resort will I to offer and to pray, And there I will myself apply my vows to thee to pay; 14 The vows that with my mouth I spake in all my grief and smart, The vows, I say, which I did make in anguish of my heart. 15 Burnt-off'rings I will give to thee of oxen fat, and rams, Yea, this my sacrifice shall be of bullocks, goats, and lambs. 16 Come forth and hearken here full soon, all ye, that fear the Lord, What he for my poor soul hath done to you I will record: 17 Full oft I call to mind his grace, his mouth to him doth cry; And thou, my tongue, make speedy pace to praise him joyfully. 18 But if I feel my heart within in wicked works rejoice, Or if I have delight in sin, God will not hear my voice. 19 But surely God my voice hath heard, and what I do require; My prayer also he doth regard, and granteth my desire. 20 All praise to him that hath not put nor cast me out of mind, Nor yet his mercy from me shut, which I do ever find. Author: Maria Straub Hymnal: Pearls of Praise #25 (1893) Scripture: Psalm 66:2 First Line: Wake a song of grateful praise Refrain First Line: We will praise him, ev'ry one Lyrics: 1 Wake a song of grateful praise For the glad returning days; Praising him who reigns above, Rules in wisdom, might and love. Gladly, freely let us sing, Bring the humble offering; Praises to our Lord belong, Praise him, praise him with a song. Refrain: We will praise him, ev’ry one, Praise him, praise him with a song; Joyfully the sound prolong, We will praise him with a song. 2 We adore the loving power That has tinted us the flower; Charmed the sounds we love to hear, Saddened hearts to sweetly cheer. In his goodness we rejoice, Grateful for the tuneful voice; We so gladly, freely raise, In the singing of his praise. [Refrain] 3 Gracious Father, bless thy name For thy mercies o’er the same; Oh, thou changeless and divine, Grant us constancy like thine! In the life we love and move, And our gratitude we prove; For the wondrous life we live, Highest praises we will give. [Refrain] Tune Title: [Wake a song of grateful praise]
