This Is a Story Full of Love

Author: Brian Wren, b. 1936 Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 4 hymnals Lyrics: 1 This is a story full of love, A song to set us free, Of God, the Wisdom and the Word, The Keystone and the Key. 2 For Wisdom guides the flow of life And governs, hour by hour, The forces of the universe, The fragrance of a flow'r. 3 And faith, awakened, hears the word That Abraham must move, And slaves of Pharaoh take the road To freedom, law, and love. 4 The Wisdom and the Word are one When flesh and bone and breath Reveal the human face of God, The child of Nazareth. 5 Disfigured on a Roman cross, Extinguished and absurd, By faith we praise the pow'r of God, The Wisdom and the Word. 6 Arising over earthly pow'rs, Our Savior has begun To catch them in a web of love And weave them into one. 7 Praise God, the Wisdom and the Word, Till all the world can see That Jesus is the First and Last, The Keystone and the Key. Give Thanks unto the LORD Our God

Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 3 hymnals Lyrics: 1 Give thanks unto the LORD our God. How good and kind is he, whose tender mercy shall endure through all eternity. 2 Let God's redeemed repeat these words and give him thanks and praise who rescued them from hostile hands, preserved them all their days. 3 He gathered them from out the lands, from north, south, east, and west. They strayed in desert's pathless way, no city found to rest. 4 Their weary soul within them faints when thirst and hunger press; in trouble then they cried to God; he saved them from distress. 5 He made the way before them straight, and he became their guide, that they might to a city go and there in peace abide. 6 Let all the children of the LORD now praise him for his grace, and for his works of wonder done in ev'ry time and place!
