Curtis Benson Doss, born on July 4, 1922, in McGehee to Clyde Doss and Estelle Boone Clayton, was a retired accounting office employee of Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Crossett. Following his retirement, he served as minister of music for Baptist churches in Crossett, Hazen, North Little Rock, Hot Springs Village and Bastrop, LA. He was a gospel music songwriter of many years, publishing songs for Jeffress Music Co. and Stamps Quartet Music Co. of Dallas, TX. He was a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and First Baptist Church of Crossett. Theodore Sisk

1906 - 1979 Person Name: T.S. Hymnal Number: 36 Author of "Often we sing to the great King" in Country and Western Gospel Favorites Theodore Roosevelt Sisk was born in Hall County, Georgia, July 15, 1906. He studied singing under his father, Jesse Lovell, and continued studying under other teachers. He wrote for or five hundred songs and was the music editor and member of The Sisk Music Company, publisher of gospel song books in Toccoa, Georgia. He died 1979 in Lexington, Ky. Sanford J. Massengale

In 1929 he graduated. He wrote a total of 1800 church songs. Massengale died in 1992 & is buried in Wetumka, Oklahoma.

John B. Matthias

Died: May 27, 1848, Hempstead, Long Island, New York. Buried: Methodist churchyard, Hempstead, Long Island, New York. Matthias moved to New York City as a young man, and attended the John Street Methodist Church. He was licensed as a Methodist preacher in 1793, and four years later Bishop Asbury ordained him a deacon. He entered the "itinerant connection" in 1811, and in 1813 Bishop McKendree ordained him an elder. He pastored at a number of locations in New York, and by 1836 was in Huntington, where he wrote Deliverance Will Come. In 1841, failing eyesight forced him to retire to Hempstead, Long Island.
