He graduated from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and completed his theological studies there in 1866. He was ordained by the Joint Synod of Ohio and pastored churches at St. Paris, Thornville and Delaware, Ohio. He wrote many poems and hymns and also edited the Lutheran Child’s Paper for nearly 10 years and contributed articles to the Lutheran Standard. He died on August 21, 1884. NN, Hymnary editor.
